Celebrating the Belles of Bharati

Most of us reminisce fondly about our past – the good times we’ve had, the fun times we’ve spent in our childhood and youth. This feeling of nostalgia grows with age, and you often hear people in their forties and fifties talking of “those lost days.” The popular Manna Dey song “Coffee House-er shei adda ta aa jar nei” seems to resonate with us more strongly when we’re caught up with work, managing kids, running from pillar to post chasing our own ambitions and trying to give the best life to our family. Growing up, I’ve often heard people say that  our college and university days are the best and the most happening phase of life, and the friends from that time are the ones we share the best memories with. I did believe this till a few years ago. But not anymore.

Move over nostalgia, I’m living my best life now! Here, in Bangkok, I’ve met the most amazing women who I’m lucky to be friends with. The Bharati girls are a force to reckon with –  vibrant, cheerful, spontaneous, enterprising, always up for plans, always ready to make things happen. Whether it’s exploring new cafés together, learning crochet, yoga, music, or dance, going pub hopping or on trips together, there’s never a dull moment with the Bharati ladies.

They are a talented bunch too – creative, enterprising, always ready to try new things, and more importantly, always willing to share their knowledge. It’s so inspiring to see some of them making new career moves, turning their passions into business, launching start-ups, creating communities, doing social work, travelling the world, following their dreams, raising beautiful children, all the while supporting and motivating each other.

This Women’s Day, I would like to give a shout-out to all the beautiful ladies of Bharati Thailand, my amazing friends who I find so inspiring, who I can relate to on so many levels, and who make my life exciting every single day. These are the kind of friends that’s fun to grow old with, so that you never ever have to feel old. Cheers to the beautiful belles of Bharati!
