Minutes of the Meeting (Durga puja 2020)

It was a pleasure to see so many of you coming over to attend the annual meeting 2020-2021 at ITCC on August 9^th. It is a testimony of our Bharati spirit and solidarity.

In view of the unprecedented effect of Covid-19 globally and its effect on humanity across the board including Thailand, we at the meeting unanimously agreed to keep this year’s function on a low key and we are thankful to all of you for your understanding and support. Considering the current scenario our main focus will be to organize the puja formalities in the best possible way that we can with local support, in the absence of our Purohit from Kolkata due to travel and safety restrictions and to keep other functions and activities to the bare minimum.

Celebrations

The following were agreed to at the meeting:

puja will start from on 23^rd October (Mahasaptami) and end on 26^th of October (Bijoya Dashami) morning. However we are trying to organize the Kalash (Ghot) sthapona on the evening of Thursday, 22^nd Oct, Sashti. Communication on this will be sent later once it is finalized by the puja Committee.
There will be no big idol and puja will be with Kalash (Ghot) only.
The puja will be conducted by a local Purohit with some support from Mrinmoy from Kolkata.
Food arrangements will be from Saptami (23^rd) evening to Nabami evening (26^th) and will be a combination of packet and served food. The food Committee will send a communication on this closer to the puja.
It was decided not to have any decorations and sound systems from outside. Only flowers and garlands required for the puja will be procured.
Cultural functions will be restricted to children and we encourage solo performance rather than group performance. ITCC mikes and sound systems are available for use. Separate communication will be sent by the cultural committee.
This year the puja will be restricted to members and their families only. Our outside friends and acquaintances may please be communicated accordingly.
Considering the current economic situation we will not be approaching any of our sponsors for any sponsorships. The Bharati annual membership subscription stands at Baht 7,000 per family and Baht 3,500 for single members. We request the members to pay initially an interim membership subscription of Baht 5,000 and 2,500 respectively and the amount is to be deposited in Kasikorn bank account no 059-8-21617-7 only and send the deposit slip to either of the treasurers. We intend not to collect any subscription in cash. You are requested to make the contributions within September 2020.
Re-induction policy as decided last year remains the same and with a fee of Baht 10,000.
ITCC management has this year not only increased the hall rent but also introduced strict hall usage hours. Any extra hours will be billed. In view of this, we would need to close down at 10 pm sharp each day.
We will not be organizing any Garba and Vijay Dashami functions like previous years.
